Learning on the Go
Today’s education can happen anytime, anywhere. If you’re new to the online classroom we offer a tutorial to walk you through. At NMU, you’ll use the student learning portal EduCat to engage in real-time class chats, in-depth discussion forums, to view videos or video-conference, receive and submit assignments and materials, and take tests. In most cases, you don’t need any special software or equipment. Just an Internet connection and a computer (we can help with that, too). NMU offers a concierge service to make your online experience a positive one.
Technology Requirements
Global Campus students must have ready access to an up-to-date computer with high-speed Internet connectivity. Students must be able to install or arrange for the installation of specific browser plugins and/or client-side software.

Additional Aspects
NMU's technology program is supported by a help desk that can be contacted by phone or online chat for Global Campus students.
NMU continues to support and improve "specialty labs" as a function of need and resource availability. These are labs designed to meet the needs of specific academic programs that have special equipment and software needs (e.g. graphic design, computer science, GIS, CAD and others).
Most administrative processes of the university are available via the web. Students can register, check their grades and view their financial aid information. An increasing amount of information about the university is now available on the web, including: enrollment statistics, academic program information, department information, computer use and help information, minutes of various campus committees and much more.
