The Northern Michigan University Police Department conducts five primary tasks: general public safety practices, crime prevention, crime investigation, employee safety and police training. Our efforts work to ensure that the NMU campus is a safe and orderly place to live, learn, work and visit.

Annual Security Report (Clery)
This guide is published annually with section 485(i) of the Higher Education Opportunity Act. All currently registered students as well as employees are directly mailed a notice by October 1 of each year that includes a statement of the report's availability, the exact electronic address at which the report is posted, a brief description of the report's contents, and a statement that the institution will provide a paper copy of the report upon request to NMU. An electronic version is available online.
