Child Care
Information
A growing number of Northern
Michigan University students are parents with preschool children.
A broad range of alternative child care services are available:
-
Baby sitters
- The JOBSearch Center prepares a list each semester of
those NMU students who want to do baby sitting. This list,
which is usually available by the third week of the semester,
may be picked up from that office or from the Dean of Students
Office.
-
The Child
Care Register is a service provided by the Dean of Students
Office for those seeking biographical data about child care
providers prior to making contact.
-
Community
Coordinated Child Care (4 C's) - This is a non-profit
organization whose membership consists of people who care for
and about children. 4 C serves a very real purpose in the
Marquette community by helping adults better understand children
and their needs. The 4 C's of Marquette publishes a booklet
which provides a complete listing of all child care providers
(commercial and licensed home care) in the Marquette area, as
well as a wealth of information about social and recreational
programs and activities for children. Any parent needing child
care assistance is encouraged to contact 4 C as soon as
possible. The 4 C's of Marquette has an office at 125 W.
Washington, Suite F (Nester Building),
Marquette, MI 49855. The phone
number is 906-228-3362.

A brochure
entitled "A Guide For NMU Student Parents Seeking Child Care
Services" is available upon request from the Dean of
Students Office.
