Help NMU win the "Yooper U's Fight the Flu" Competition

In an effort to further protect our campus communities throughout the region, the Center for Rural Health at Northern Michigan University is bringing universities throughout the U.P. together to “Fight the Flu”. Students, staff and faculty from Finlandia University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University and Northern Michigan University are competing to see which school can get the highest percentage of its total population vaccinated against the flu.

The U.P. Community Health Town Hall is a FREE, monthly, virtual webinar series hosted by Elise Bur, Director of the Center for Rural Health at Northern Michigan University and is organized in partnership with Dr. Steven Elmer, Associate Professor, and Dr. Kelly Kamm, Assistant Professor, both from the Department of Kinesiology and Integrative Physiology at Michigan Technological University.

Topic: "Suicide is the enemy, but not the target; How shifting our aim can help change the outcome."

David Woods Bartley is a nationally recognized suicide prevention speaker. In addition to giving two TED talks and being named a 2021 Mental Health Champion by the prestigious Steinberg Institute, David has presented more than 600 times to audiences across the United States, Canada, Central America, and India, giving in-person and virtual presentations on the subjects of suicide, male sexual trauma, mental health, organizational culture, and servant leadership.

Flu Shot Competition

Yooper U's Fight the Flu

Center for Rural Health

NMU is competing against the three other U.P. universities in a flu shot competition to see which school can get the highest percentage of its overall population to be vaccinated against the flu. Students, faculty and staff are all eligible to participate.

To compete, visit nmu.edu/fight-the-flu and self-report that you have received your seasonal flu vaccine.
