Graduate Degree Programs

Northern Michigan University offers 28 graduate programs in 12 disciplines, ranging from quick-to-earn graduate certificates to a doctoral degree. Students also have the option of customizing a degree by combining courses from two or more of our master’s programs.

We offer a variety of in-person, hybrid or online programs to fit your lifestyle. Online learners will benefit from in-state tuition rates, wherever they reside. 

Full-time graduate students (8 or more credits) also qualify to receive a laptop computer.

There are many ways to help fund your advanced degree and make your dreams reality: 

• More than 100 graduate assistantships are available, which cover tuition and include a stipend of $10,800 per academic year. These may involve teaching, research or administrative work.

• NMU also offers graduate-student focused scholarships, grants, fellowships and support for conference travel.

• Degree-seeking graduate students are eligible for loans through the federal Direct Loan program.

• Take advantage of our installment plan to spread your tuition payments over the semester.
