1. A gift to the Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences from Frei Chevrolet, Inc., Marquette, MI, Electronic Media (34 videos), miscellaneous hand tools, and Happy Vision I Headlamp Aimer ($700 value).
2. A gift to the Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences from Kathy and Allen Solka, Ishpeming, MI, 1 queen-sized quilt and 1 baby boy basket filled with clothes, toys, and baby necessities.

9. The grant between the GLOBE Program and Northern Michigan University to conduct a teacher workshop on atmospheric study and climate, in the amount of $1,800, for the time period September 1, 2011 through March 1, 2012, under the direction of Mr. Mitchell Klett.
10. The grant between Northern Michigan University and the Board of Regents of the University of Nebraska, to develop a multi-platform observing system for real-time environmental monitoring of Lake Superior, in the amount of $3,945, for the time period May 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012 under the direction of Mr. Jonathan Hanes.
11. The grant from the Michigan Department of Education through the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, for the Greater Proficiency in Mathematics professional learning program for elementary and middle school grade educators to support a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts the goal of which is to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics in the amount of $28,715, for the period of September 1, 2011 through August 31, 2012, under the direction of Ms. Deb Homeier.
12. The grant between the Michigan Humanities Council and Northern Michigan University, for an exhibition based on an archaeological dig conducted over two summers by students and faculty in Northern Michigan Universitys Department of Sociology and Social Work on Beaver Island, Michigan, in the amount of $13,659, with an additional amount of $1,360 from the Beaumier U.P. Heritage Center, and an In-Kind university amount of $18,071, for a total amount of $33,090, for the time period of November 15, 2011 through November 30, 2012 under the direction of Mr. Daniel Truckey.
13. The grant between the National Endowment for the Arts and Northern Michigan University to support creating and learning art in native settings that will teach American Indian youth to revitalize Anishinaabe art forms, songs, and dances, in the amount of $22,000, with an additional amount of $9,150 from the Center for Native American Studies, and an in-kind university amount of $14,425, for a total amount of $45,575 for the time period of November 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012, under the direction of Ms. April Lindala.
14. The grant between Northern Michigan University and the State of Michigan, Department of Education, to provide leadership, student services, professional development, curriculum support, resources, and community involvement in mathematics and science education, in the amount of $43,657, with an In-Kind University amount of $4,366, for a total amount of $48,023, for the time period October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012, under the direction of Ms. Debra Homeier.
15. The grant from the U.S. Department of Education, for the Michigan GEAR UP/College Day Program to support early college awareness activities, in the amount of $57,104.93 with additional amounts of $33,512 from the State Department of Education King/Chavez/Parks College Day, and $39,485 from the Multicultural Education Resource Center, for a total amount of $130,101.93, for the period of September 26, 2011 through September 25, 2012 under the direction of Ms. Shirley Brozzo.
16. The grant between Northern Michigan University and the
U.S. Department of Education, for the Ronald
E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement
Program, to prepare low-income, first-generation college
students, and students from groups
underrepresented in graduate education, for doctoral study, in the
amount of $213,180, for the period of
October 1, 2011 through September 30, 2012, under the direction
of Mr. Carl Wozniak.
17. The grant from the Michigan Department of State Police Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards, to provide in-service training to the law enforcement community of the Upper Peninsula, in the amount of $170,487.78, with an In-Kind University amount of $90,239.34, for a total amount of $260,727.12, for the time period of January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012, under the direction of Mr. Michael Bath.
18. The grant between Northern Michigan University and the National Institute of Health, Department of Health and Human Services, explore the potential of muscle-derived BDNF (brain-derived neurotrophic factor) to trigger neuropathology and myopathology associated with neuromuscular diseases. Results of these studies may provide a novel target for treatment of neuromuscular disorders and establish the importance of muscle-synthesized neurotrophins as a critical factor in the health and maintenance of the entire motor unit, in the amount of $368,200, for the time period September 30, 2011 through September 29, 2014, under the direction of Dr. Erich Ottem.
