A.      Minutes:

 

 1.     That the minutes of the July 12, 2012 meeting of the Board be approved.

 

 

B.      Gifts, Grants, Agreements and Contracts:

 

1.    A gift to the Department of Communications and Performance Studies from Jim and Sharon Farrell, Marquette, MI, various clothing for costume shop.   ($275 value)

 

2.    A gift to the School of Art and Design from Dr. Diane Kordich, Deerton, MI, Niel Haapala painting on board “Ready to Ice the Road.”  ($500 value)

 

3.    A gift to the Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences from Jeffrey R. Lindsey, Skandia, MI, 2000 Ford Expedition ($650 value).

 

4.    A gift to the Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences from Swick Home Services, Marquette, MI, condensing boilers (include NTI trinity fire tube, triangle tube prestige, trimax solo wall mounted unit.)  ($5,950 value)

D.      Degrees

 

1.      That the preliminary list of August 2013 graduates be approved.  The list is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

E.      Property and Finance

 

  1.    The 2013-2014 Designated Fund Operating Budget be approved.  A copy of the budget is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

  2.    The 2013-2014 General Fund Operating Budget be approved.  A copy of the budget is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

  3.    The Financial Report for Northern Michigan University for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2013, and all related transactions be approved.  The audit of these
         statements was conducted by Rehmann Robson, Certified Public Accountants.  The statements were reviewed and approved by the Finance Committee
         of the Board of Trustees.  A copy of the Financial Report is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

4.      The sub-lease between Northern Michigan University and The State of Michigan, State Building Authority, for the New Science Building be approved.  A
         copy of the sub-lease is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

5.      Northern Michigan University’s Facilities Five-Year Master Plan, as required by the Department of Management and Budget, and the 2014-2015 Capital
         Outlay Project Request be approved.  A copy of the plan and the project request is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

E.      Special Items

 

  1. The Department of Communications and Marketing be split into two units as follows effective July 1, 2013:

 

Department of Communications reporting to the President

 

Department of Marketing reporting to the Vice President for Advancement in the interim

 

  1. The Negotiated agreement between Northern Michigan University and the Northern Michigan University Faculty Association, MAHE-MEA-NEA, which was ratified on August 30, 2013, covering the period from August 14, 2013 – June 30, 2016.

  2. The formation of the Division of Advancement.

 

  1. That the following Board of Trustees meeting schedule for calendar year 2014 be approved:

         Tentative (Retreat – May be held offsite)
