INTRODUCTION TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE FALL 2014 STUDENT COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER

Chair Popp, Members of the Board of Trustees, President Erickson:

One of the special components of tomorrow’s graduation ceremonies is the student speaker’s commencement address.  I am pleased to introduce the young woman who was selected as the student who will address the graduates tomorrow, Ms. Emily Schneider.

Please join me, Emily.

Emily enrolled at NMU just 3 ½ years ago. She is from Arlington Heights, Illinois.  Emily is a Mathematics major, with minors in Economics and English.  She will graduate cum laude tomorrow.

Emily has been involved on-campus with the Dance Team and Club Volleyball.  She was a First Year Experience and Math teaching assistant.  She worked for two years as a tutor at the Writing Center.

Emily interned this past summer with SunGard in their financial systems sector.  This internship led to a full-time job offer—she will be starting her employment with them in January.

The theme of Emily’s address tomorrow is using the NMU experience to be innovative, move past the generation label, and leave a mark on the world.

Chair Popp, I believe you have a presentation to make.
