A.     Minutes:

 

 1.     That the minutes of the July 23, 2015 meeting of the Board be approved.

 

B.     Gifts of Property

 

1.            Gift to the School of Art and Design (DeVos Art Museum) from Karol Lautner Peterson, Marquette, MI, 45 Frank Lloyd Wright Lithographs (Wasmuth Portfolio).  ($4,750 value)

 

2.            Gift to the Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences (Hospitality Management Main Event Prizes) from John and Jenny Centko, Marquette, MI, two (2) 3-hour Superior Sunset Cruise for four including food and appetizers.  ($500 value)

 

C.     Personnel Actions: 

 

Appointments:

 

1.            Cherry, Brian, Professor, Political Science Department, a permanent tenure appointment, effective January 1, 2016.  (Transfer from Assistant Provost)

 

2.            Gasiewicz, Nanci K., Associate Dean – Nursing Education, Director – School of Nursing, Associate Professor with tenure in the School of Nursing, a five-year term appointment, effective July 1, 2015.  (Contract Extension)

D.     Property and Finance:

 

1.      Northern Michigan University’s Facilities Five-Year Master Plan, as required by the Department of Management and Budget, and the 2016-2017 Capital Outlay Project Request, be approved. A copy of the plan and the project request is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

2.      The following Capital and Long-Term Maintenance Project with a total cost over $250,000 be approved:

 

University Center cooling Tower Replacement          $285,000

 

3.      The Fiscal Year 2016 Long-Term Maintenance Project List be approved.  A copy is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

E.     Special Items:

 

1.      The English Language Institute (ELI) and International Outreach/Recruitment be reassigned to the Extended Learning and Community Engagement Division.

 

2.      The addition of a new Native American Studies baccalaureate program effective Fall 2016.

 

3.      The following individual be appointed as a charter school board member:

 

Bahweting Public School Academy

Michael McKerchie                                                  Expiration Date:  June 30, 2018

 

4.      The negotiated agreement between Northern Michigan University and the Administrative/Professional Union, UAW Local 2178, covering October 1, 2015 – September 30, 2018.  A copy of the agreement is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

5.      The Counseling Center operations be reorganized under the management and supervision of Dr. David Luoma, Northern Michigan University Vielmetti Health Center.
