FORMAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY – Marquette, Michigan

A.     Minutes:

 

 1.     That the minutes of the September 22, 2017 and October 23, 2017 meetings of the Board be approved.

 

 

B.     Personnel Actions: 

 

         Appointments:

 

1.            Robinia, Kristi, J., Interim Associate Dean-Nursing / Director-Nursing, a term appointment, effective January 1, 2018 – June 30, 2018.  (Transfer)

 

2.            Robinia, Kristi, J., Interim Associate Dean-Nursing / Director-Nursing, a term appointment, effective July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019.  (Contract Extension)

 

         Emeritus:

 

1.            Dr. Patrick Brown be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Biology, effective January 1, 2018.

2.            Dr. Mary Jane Tremethick be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Health and Human Performance, effective January 1, 2018.

 

 

C.     Degrees

 

1.            The August 2017 final list of graduates and the December 2017 preliminary list of graduates be approved.  A copy of the lists are on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

 

D.     Property and Finance:

 

1.            That the resolution of the Board of Trustees of Northern Michigan University authorizing the one-day event liquor licenses as follows be approved:

2.            That the Board of Trustees of Northern Michigan University provide the administration with authority to charge a differential rate that is at or below existing published rates for targeted on-line programs or for partnership agreements with high schools and community colleges.

 

3.            The resolution be approved authorizing the issuance and delivery of General Revenue Bonds, and providing for other matters relating thereto.  A copy of the resolution is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

4.            That the following Capital Projects with a total cost over $250,000 be approved:

 

Don H. Bottum University Renovation

   $20,500,000

Forensic Research Laboratory Phase II

(Phase I project cost of $395,000 previously approved)

        $150,000

Superior Dome Football Office and Academic Area Renovations

(contingent upon achieving fundraising goal)

        $700,000

 

 

E.     Special Items:

 

1.            That Academic Information Services name be changed to Library and Instructional Support, effective January 1, 2018.

 

2.            That the addition of a new Applied Science in Management bachelor’s degree program be approved, effective Fall 2018.

 

3.            That the following individuals be appointed as board members for the following Public School Academies:

 

Bahweting Public School Academy

Kimberly Hedges                                                  Expiration Date:  June 30, 2018

 

Francis Reh Public School Academy

David Bearss                                                         Expiration Date:  June 30, 2018

 

North Star Academy

David Wiegand                                                     Expiration Date:  June 30, 2018

 

4.            That the Forrest Roberts Theatre lobby be named the “Lambda Chi Alpha Lobby,” effective December 15, 2017.

 

5.            That pursuant to the State of Michigan Public Act 152, Northern Michigan University will continue to be an 80/20 Employer.
