FORMAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

A.     Minutes:

 

 1.     That the minutes of the September 23, 2022, September 29, 2022, and November 3, 2022, meetings of the Board be approved.

 

B.     Personnel Actions: 

 

Appointments:

 

1.         Bergner, Eva, Assistant Professor – School of Nursing, a tenure-track appointment, effective January 11, 2023 be approved.  (New Appointment)

 

2.         Hopper, Casey, Assistant Professor – School of Nursing, a tenure-track appointment, effective January 11, 2023, be approved.  (Change)

 

3.         Leonard, Jill B., Department Head and Professor – Biology Department, effective November 18, 2022, a five-year appointment, be approved.  (Contract Extension)

 

4.         Monske, Elizabeth A., Interim Department Head – English Department, effective July 18, 2022, a one-year appointment, be approved.  (Contract Extension)

 

5.         Stoner, Alexander M., Department Head and Associate Professor – Sociology/ Anthropology Department, a five-year appointment, be approved.  (Transfer)

 

C.     Degrees

 

1.         That the August 2022 final list of graduates and the December 2022 preliminary list of graduates be approved.  A copy of the lists is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

2.         That Dr. Linda Thompson, President of Westfield State University, receive an Honorary Degree, Doctorate of Nursing, at the December 17, 2022 Commencement Ceremony.

 

D.     Property and Finance:

 

1.         That pursuant to the State of Michigan Public Act 152, Northern Michigan University will continue to be an 80/20 Employer.

 

2.         That the resolution of the Board of Trustees of Northern Michigan University authorizing the one-day event liquor license be approved:

3.         That the following Capital and Long-Term Maintenance Projects with a total cost over $250,000 be approved:

 

Science Complex Lab Addition – Design Budget

$  550,000

Renovation of Vandament Arena to accommodate both volleyball and basketball

$2,500,000

 

E.     Special Items:

 

1.         That the following donation be approved:

 

Seven (7) art prints by Darryl Curran from his personal collection be accepted through the NMU Foundation for the Northern Michigan University DeVos Art Museum’s permanent collection.  This gift was approved by the NMU Gift Acceptance Committee on October 4, 2022 and the NMU Foundation Board of Trustees on November 2, 2022.

 

2.         That the following gift-in-kind from the Dr. Glenn T. Seaborg family be approved:

 

Collection of sixty-nine (69) award medals and Dr. Seaborg’s Nobel Prize to be included in the collection and memorabilia and artifacts associated with the Glenn T. Seaborg Mathematics and Science Center at Northern Michigan University.

 

3.         That the Academic Calendars for 2025-2026, 2026-2027, and 2027-2028 be approved.  A copy of the calendars is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

4.         That the following Revised Board of Trustees meeting schedule for calendar year 2023 be approved:
