FORMAL RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY – Marquette, Michigan

A.     Minutes:

 

1.      That the minutes of the September 19, 2025, October 10, 2025, October 16, 2025, and November 6, 2025 meetings of the Board be approved.

 

B.     Personnel Actions: 

 

Appointments:

 

1.         Bridger, Emera Louise, Director – Library, a five-year term appointment, effective January 1, 2025.  (Transfer)

 

2.         Olsen, Christopher J., NMU President-elect, be granted tenure in the History Department, effective January 1, 2026.

 

Emeritus:

 

1.         That Professor Daric Christian be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Art & Design, effective immediately.

 

C.     Degrees

 

1.         That the August 2025 final list of graduates and the December 2025 preliminary list of graduates be approved.  A copy of the lists is on file with the Secretary of the Board of Trustees.

 

2.         That Mr. Trevor Forsythe, a Multimedia Production major be granted, posthumously, a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia Production.

 

D.     Property and Finance:

 

1.         That pursuant to the State of Michigan Public Act 152, Northern Michigan University will continue to be an 80/20 Employer.

 

2.         That the resolution of the Board of Trustees of Northern Michigan University authorizing the one-day event liquor license be approved:

E.     Special Items:

 

1.         That the Board of Trustees approve the following department name change:

 

From:  Student Supports Services

To:      The ASSIST Office (Academic Support and Student Intervention Services Team)

 

2.         That the Board of Trustees approve/affirm that no changes are needed for the current “Gifts or Awards in Excess of $5,000 Policy.”

 

3.         That the following individual be appointed as board member for the following Public School Academy:

 

Burton Glen Charter Academy

Tyron Robertson (new appointment)                Expiration date:  June 30, 2028

 

4.         That the following donation be approved:

 

·       Ten (10) Offset Lithographs by artist Bruce Conner

§  The Conner Family Trust (Donor) would like to donate the works of art to become a part of the DeVos Art Museum’s permanent collect at NMU.

§  The Museum’s Collection Committee, the Gift Acceptance Committee, and the Foundation Board of Trustees have approved this gift.

§  The claimed value by the Donor is $33,000.
