A.     Minutes:

 

  1.    That the minutes of the December 15-16, 2005 meeting of the Board be approved.  (Backup)

 

 

B.      Gifts, Grants, Agreements and Contracts:

 

  1.    A gift to Technology & Occupational Sciences from Ann Marie Bennon, Negaunee, Michigan, one 1991 Oldsmobile Four-door (appraised value: $500). 

 

  2.    A gift to Technology & Occupational Sciences from Joy Hemmila, Negaunee, Michigan, one 1988 Buick Century Four-Door (appraised value: $500).

 

  3.    A gift to Technology & Occupational Sciences from Doris North, Negaunee, Michigan, one 1991 Toyota Two-Door (appraised value: $500).

 

  4.    A gift to Technology & Occupational Sciences from David White, AuTrain, Michigan, one 1995 Ford Explorer (appraised value: $500). 

 

  5.    The grant from the Michigan Department of Education for the King-Chavez-Parks Select Student Support Services program, in the amount of $79,420, with a University cash match of $6,937 from Diversity Student Services, and a University in-kind match of $30,266, for a total amount of $116,623, for the period October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006, under the direction of Mr. Darnell Bradley.

 

  6.    The grant from the Michigan Department of Education under Section 99 of the State School Aid Act to improve mathematics and science instruction in Michigan, in the amount of $57,716, for the period October 1, 2005 to September 30, 2006, under the direction of Ms. Ann Joyal. 

 

  7.    The Mathematics and Science Partnership grant from the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District, to provide professional development for K-12 teachers in mathematics with a goal to improve student achievement in mathematics, in the amount of $52,750, for the period September 1, 2005 through August 31, 2006, under the direction of Ms. Ann Joyal. 

 

  8.    The First Thursday Program grant from the Marquette Community Foundation, to increase awareness of tobacco and cessation strategies towards reducing college student use, and to introduce an NMU student developed tobacco education module for use in Marquette area K-12 classrooms, in the amount of $2,028.50, for the period December 1, 2005 through November 30, 2006, under the direction of Mr. Lenny Shible. 

 

  9.    The agreement between Northern Michigan University and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians to conduct a Tribal Sovereignty and Strategic Planning Institute, in the amount of $3,000, under the direction of Ms. April Lindala.

 

10.    The grant from the Michigan Department of Education to conduct motorcycle safety classes throughout the Upper Peninsula, in the amount of $64,604.03, for the period October 1, 2005 through September 30, 2006, under the direction of Mr. Cameron Hadley.

 

 

C.     Personnel Actions: 

 

         Emeritus Status:

 

  1.    That Carol Hicks be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Engineering and Technology, effective Mach 1, 2006. 

 

   2.   That Jane Jamsen be granted the status of Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, effective March 1, 2006.

   1.   That the following new apartment complex rates for the 2006-2007 academic year be approved:

  1.    That the addition of the Accounting/Corporate Finance 150 hour program, effective fall 2006, be approved. 

 

  2.    That the addition of the graduate certificate in Criminal Justice Management, effective fall 2006, be approved. 

 

  3.    That the deletion of the Associate of Applied Science Degree in Corrections, effective fall 2006, be approved.
