The Academic Affairs Committee meeting was called to order at 2:15 p.m.

Charter School Board Approvals

Mr. William Pistulka, Charter Schools Officer presented a proposed list of board member appointments and renewals for the North Star Public School Academy, Walton Academy, and Nah Tah Wahsh Academy.

The motion duly made and seconded the Committee recommends to the Board of Trustees the approval of the list of board members.  This motion is part of the formal recommendations.

Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) Update

Dr. Cynthia Prosen, Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies & Research provided an update of Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) activities at Northern Michigan University. AQIP provides the process for NMU to maintain its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.

Introduction of New Hires

Dr. Koch introduced the following new hires:

Dr. Cynthia Prosen, Interim Associate Provost for Academic Affairs & Dean of Graduate

   Studies and Research

Dr. Marcelo Siles, Executive Director of International Programs

Dr. Paul Lang, Interim Dean, College of Professional Studies

Mr. Daniel Truckey, Director/Curator, Beaumier Heritage Museum

Good of the Order

Mr. Ziegler expressed his concern regarding the number of years it takes students to graduate.  President Wong suggested this be part of a future focus discussion.

Mr. LaSalle thanked the Committee and the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 p.m.
