NMU Recreation Sports offers two ways to get involved in sports: Club Sports and Intramural Sports.
The Club Sport Program was created to bridge the gap that often exists between intramural sports and intercollegiate athletics. Students in this program compete in sports with other regional colleges or universities.
Intramural Sports are the most popular extracurricular activity on campus and is a great way to meet new people, reconnect with friends, continue playing the sports you have grown to love, or try a new activity you've never played before.
NMU's location offers 96 miles of cross country ski trails. The NMU Trailhead also connects campus to the North Trails and South Trails of the Noquemanon Trail Network (NTN). In a partnership with the NTN, NMU offers students unlimited access to hundreds of miles of trails, free equipment rentals and access to lessons.
NMU Rec Sports also offers indoor recreation with its 1,450 square-foot climbing wall which is located in the Physical Education and Instructional Facility (PEIF).
