TH 245 Voice and Diction 4 cr.

Development of communication skills for all performance areas. Practical exercises cover vocal production, articulation, International Phonetic Alphabet and selected stage dialects. Recommended for all communication and performance studies majors.

A performance-centered course with emphasis on the analysis, development and portrayal of character in production.

TH 340 Stage Lighting 3 cr.

History and function of lighting and control equipment. Color theory, modern lighting practice, methods of design and design presentation. Experience in set lighting.
TH 341 Stage Properties 4 cr.

Design and construction of properties for theatrical productions. Construction, painting and finishing techniques. Experience in creating properties.
TH 360 History of Theatre 4 cr.

Study of all major historic periods to indicate the physical development of the stage, the playwrights, their plays, dramatic criticism and aesthetics.
TH 361 Modern Drama 4 cr.

Modern playwrights and their plays, the physical stage, dramatic criticism and aesthetics from 1850 to the present.
TH 385 Theatre in Perspective: The Stratford Festival Stage 3 cr.

  • Prerequisites: EN 211 with a grade of "C" or better or HON 102 and HON 112 and sophomore standing.

An interdisciplinary, interactive approach to four or five plays that will be performed at the Stratford, Ontario, Theatre Festival. Students simultaneously enroll in TH 493 Field Studies, will also be able to view these same plays in performance at Stratford.
