Mathematics and Science Education at NMU
The
objectives of the Seaborg Center are to provide: (1) programs that
support the teaching and learning of science and mathematics at
all levels, but particularly in the elementary and secondary
schools of the upper peninsula; (2) curriculum support to the
schools; (3) mathematics and science teacher education; (4)
professional development opportunities for teachers; and (5)
enrichment experiences for students.
The Seaborg Center is one of the 33 designated
mathematics/science centers in the State of Michigan. It maintains
a resource facility that includes a variety of materials
(publications, activity kits, videos, etc.) that teachers,
students, and faculty may borrow for use in a classroom.
