Lake Effect Show Choir Presents Dinner Concert

The revived Lake Effect Show Choir, a 25-member vocal ensemble under the direction of Sharon Green (Music), will present a dinner concert on Saturday, April 12, at the Masonic Building in downtown Marquette.

The event begins with a complete roast beef dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a concert of familiar pop and Broadway musical selections. Many are choreographed. Songs range from “In My Life” by the Beatles to “The Rhythm of Life” from Sweet Charity to Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” In addition to the group numbers, there will also be solos and a men’s barbershop selection.

The dinner will be catered by the Presque Isle Chapter Order of Eastern Star. Tickets covering both the food and entertainment are $15 and must be purchased by April 4 from the NMU music department office, Forsberg Flowers or the Masonic office.

Green said Lake Effect was resurrected about two years ago and is available for university and community events.

"We're working on building our foundation as a fine entertainment musical ensemble, and we're actively seeking performance opportunities," she added.  We're not looking to make money; we are eager to do some musical outreach by sharing our talents with the community."
