Jim Cantrill (Communications and Performance Studies) presented “Amplifiers on the Commons: The Role of a Sense of Self-in-Place and Community-Based Sustainability Initiatives to Promote Conservation Biology” Oct. 12 at the Society for Conservation Biology in Edmonton, Alberta. His presentation reviewed various ways in which a sense of self in place can be applied in the context of landscape-scale planning to conserve biological resources and promote sustainability in general.
William Connor (HPER) recently presented “Bridging the Gap—Integrating Current Pedagogical Theory and Coaching Practice” Oct. 28 at the Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance national convention in Indianapolis. This presentation was designed for coaches and took current pedagogical theory and applied it to exemplary practice in the athletic arena, making the concepts readily utilized in most coaching venues.
