New Department Heads Named

The NMU Board of Trustees today approved two new department head appointments: Chet DeFonso in History and Mary Jane Tremethick in Health, Physical Education and Recreation.

Faculty Tenure and Promotions

The NMU Board of Trustees today agreed to grant tenure to Mollie Freier (AIS-Library). The board also granted tenure to the following, all of whom were promoted to the rank of associate professor: Derek Anderson, Education; William Bergmann and Gabe Logan, History; Keith Ellis and Peter Pless, Art and Design; Hsin-Ling Hsieh, Economics; Michael Joy, Modern Languages and Literatures; Elizabeth Monske, English; Mark Shevy, Communication and Performance Studies; and Will Tireman, Physics. Michael Kowalczyk (Mathematics and Computer Science) was promoted to assistant professor.
