Kenzie Harrod

Meet Kenzie Harrod, a Social Media Design Management major from Troy, MI. Kenzie plans to graduate in 2024.

It’s the only school in Michigan that had a social media program worth looking into, and the nature reminds me of my home in Norway.

I started a youtube channel during covid and it sparked a creativity for social media that I wanted to continue to pursue.

I have taken countless art and film classes that have expanded my opportunities in countless ways. I got an opportunity to be a wedding videographer to an NMU alumni couple and it was priceless experience. I met a man named Bob at the wedding (he was the dj) and he gave me a job at WNMUTv.

I am involved in Public Eye News, Hip hop, Zumba, Rock Climbing, Scuba diving, WNMUTv, Sports Videography, NMU’s YouTube and my own personal youtube channel. I also started an event for friends at my home called “soup night”. The most rewarding has been Public Eye News. It has opened many doors in the videography world and I am likely to pursue that after graduation.

Being a wildcat means having heart and hunger. It means being compassionate for the community and the nature around you. It means having the hunger to learn and the drive to adapt.

I found it in lifelong friends, grounding in nature, and genuine professors who really cared about me and my growth as a person and professional.

You won’t regret coming to a place so full of beauty and opportunity. Do it.
