In an emergency situation, where there is concern of immediate or imminent risk to yourself or others, take action.

Please call NMU Police Department at 906-227-2151, or go to the emergency room at UP Health System-Marquette, or call 911 immediately.

  • Health Advocate - service is 100% free to current NMU students and is available when CCS is closed. Students can access this free crisis counseling by calling (855) 384-1800.

    • Fall Semester hours 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m - 5 p.m. on Friday. The office is CLOSED from 12:00pm - 1:00pm for lunch
    • Summer hours in accordance with the University Schedule, 7:30a.m. - 4:00p.m. 
    • Limited Same Day Appointments & Emergency sessions are available daily for crisis situations.

       

     

REMINDER:  IF NMU cancels or closes due to inclement weather our office is closed as well. Appointments will be rescheduled for the same day and time the following week.

Counseling and Consultation is located inside the WellBeing Center, which is located near The Woods residential area and Northern Lights Dining Facility. Parking is available off of Lincoln Avenue (see the campus map). The office is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

NMU's Counseling and Consultation Services has transitioned to a new Electronic Health Records system, below is the link you can use (currently enrolled students who are not faculty or staff at NMU) to complete required paperwork and request Same Day/Emotional Crisis Appointments. 

Organization Name is Northern Michigan University then you will be required to input your NMU email address and password to login. 

There are a limited number of Same Day/Emotional Crisis appointments available on a daily basis (Monday through Thursday 8am-7pm and Friday 8am-5pm closed for lunch from 12-1:00pm).
