Department of Technology and Occupational Sciences (TOS)

Within the College of Technology and Occupational Sciences (CTOS), students have the unique opportunity to begin with certificates or associate degrees and ladder into associate or bachelor degrees. The CTOS programs, inclusive of Hospitality Leadership, Cosmetology, Welding, Indoor Agriculture, Automotive Maintenance, HVAC-R, Industrial Maintenance, and Construction Management, are housed in newly renovated spaces, the Jacobetti Complex and the Northern Center, and faculty and staff provide education to students in state-of-the-art labs and classrooms designed to help them enter the workforce with understanding of the most up-to-date technology they may experience in the field.

TOS programs work closely with industry and businesses to provide hands-on opportunities and internships to students during the course of the education and beyond.

Continuing Education and Workforce Development

The NMU Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) office provides opportunities for continuing your education. CEWD offers online and in-person training and testing opportunities. NMU works with regional companies, entrepreneurs, schools and agencies, and industry to meet the current and future workforce needs of the Upper Peninsula and beyond.
