About NMU's Upward Bound Math-Science Program

Northern Michigan University's Upward Bound Math-Science program is an intensive, six-week academic experience that exposes students to a variety of career fields, improves their problem-solving skills and enriches their appreciation for science and mathematics. Students will experience adventure and develop lasting new friendships.

New Students

Students interested in participating in programs offered by Upward Bound Math-Science should apply annually by September 30. Applications submitted after this date will be considered as space permits. 


Mentors and Staff

The Upward Bound Math-Science program hires qualified Northern Michigan University students to serve as tutors-counselors to our high school participants. If you are not a current NMU student but are interested in a mentoring position, please contact our program director, Julie Bowerman.
