Dana Hinckley

Meet Dana Hinckley, a Secondary Education Spanish major, from Bolingbrook, IL. Dana plans to graduate in 2025.

I like that there are more opportunities for growth at a smaller university

I found a passion for teaching while coaching softball and love working with kids.

I am the president of diversity in disability and we have an event every month where we hand out awareness ribbons to educate people about different disabilities. This event gives us the opportunity to foster a more inclusive environment.

I am the president of diversity in disability. This is what I enjoy the most. We hosted an epilepsy awareness 5k run/walk in December and raised $1,000. We have come so far with this organization and I can’t wait for what we have planned down the line.

I am also the co-president of the commuter student organization. We work on creating a more inclusive environment at NMU for commuter and nontraditional students. We have had great success with the lounge that was recently opened in Harden Hall. I love seeing an increase in engagement with commuter students at NMU. It’s not easy to get involved as a commuter.

Being a wildcat means being part of a team.

I joined a few student organizations and had a lot of fun getting to meet new people. Joining ASNMU helped me find my group of people that I could relate to the most: motivated individuals who are passionate about student life at NMU

NMU is a great school for future leaders. NMU provides students with the opportunity to have close relationships with faculty and staff that would be hard to come by at a larger university.

Get involved! I promise you won’t regret it!
