Meet Lexi Wieringa, a 2017 BS Marketing & 2019 MA Higher Education & Student Affairs alumna from Kentwood, MI. Lexi currently resides in Gunnison, Co where she is employed as the Associate Director of Registration and Advising Services at Western Colorado University.
What at NMU helped you most in your current role?
Working as an Orientation Leader during undergrad really opened my eyes to other parts of the university. Working with academic advisors during orientation was what made me start thinking about Academic Advising as a career. One of my co-Orientation Leaders from NMU actually recruited me to apply at Western Colorado University where I work today. During grad school I was also able to work full-time as a Resident Director which launched me into a student affairs career. I also credit Brent Larsen, Alexandra Marshall, and Jeff Korpi for where I am today. All three worked in Residence Life while I was an RA or RD and were incredible support systems, role models, and mentors! I would not be where I am today without them!
