Functional and cardiopulmonary anatomy and physiology; mechanics of ventilation and cardiac output. Muskulo-skeletal and nervous systems of the lungs and thorax, myocardial mechanics and total body fluid volume. Concepts of ventilation/perfusion ratio and regional changes, deadspace and shunting.
