This program is intended for persons employed as local corrections officers. The curriculum includes course work and hands-on experiences to update the officers in the required areas of the corrections field. In-service training is offered through the Public Safety Institute, Northern Michigan University.

The local corrections certificate may be earned through the satisfactory completion of any 16 credit hours of unduplicated PSCR prefix courses. However, PSCR 011 Legal Update Training may be counted for a maximum of two of the 16 required credits hours.
