This major focuses on health and fitness promotion interventions and can be personalized to individual’s career goals. Preparation for many industry certifications are linked to specific classes available in the program. The major is designed to prepare students for positions/careers in worksites, hospitals/clinics, public health agencies, health clubs, strength and conditioning clubs, campus fitness programs, geriatric centers, nonprofits (e.g. YMCAs), entrepreneurial endeavors, and other places where health and fitness are promoted. It also is designed to prepare students for future study and advanced degrees, if desired. No minor is required.
Management of health and fitness majors must achieve a grade of “C” (2.00) or higher in all major courses. In addition, students are expected to follow a lifestyle commensurate with their professional aspirations.
