Folk Dance as a Cultural Experience

This course will involve advanced research techniques to help journalists uncover information beyond that provided by official sources. Advanced Multimedia Journalism will also offer opportunities to improve writing and aesthetic production skills obtained in Introduction to Multimedia Journalism.
This course will introduce students to basic news reporting techniques for multiple media platforms. Students will learn how to research stories and weigh evidence while exploring the technical and aesthetic expertise necessary for professionally reporting news for the web, TV and print.
Lectures covering the fundamentals of riverine and riparian ecology.

An individually-designed project to be approved in advance by the theatre faculty, TH 480 will concentrate upon the preparation of a professional portfolio/employment presentation appropriate to the student’s area or areas of expertise. Project may culminate in a performance.
Advanced course in theoretical and textual analysis of the performance traditions of a particular region. Cultural and historical ideologies will be examined as they relate to the creation of the work. Students will produce scholarly research and writing. Topic varies including Theatre of the Middle East, Theatre of the African Diaspora, and Theatre of Asia.
Notes: May be repeated when topic varies.Expands on TH 131 and covers advanced topics in set construction, stage rigging, applied forces and safety as they relate to the art of stagecraft.
Advanced course in theoretical and applied aspects of performance. Applied onstage exercises include solo and ensemble acting assignments. Topic varies including voice and diction, musical theatre, acting Shakespeare, etc.
Notes: May be repeated if topic differs. For theatre and entertainment arts majors/minors this course must be taken at least twice with different content.Advanced study in a particular area or areas of design for theatre and entertainment production. Topics may include but are not limited to sets, lighting, costumes, sound and makeup. Topics chosen for a given semester will be based on student interest and production schedules. Students must take the course twice to fulfill major core requirements.
