Introduction to risk management; including: insurance, loss exposure, regulation, insurance carriers, reinsurance, marketing, underwriting, and claims adjusting. This course helps prepare students for the INS 21 national examination administered by the Insurance Institute of America.

A Fanuc-based Haas controller and CamWorks software will program G and M code to cut various types of metal on both a CNC lathe and mill. Topics will include advanced milling and turning, Haas VQC programming and Renishaw Probe usage.

Introduction to advanced machining and turning operations. Turning operations will include the use of lathe dogs, 4-jawed chucks, boring bars and thread cutting tools. Milling operations will include advanced fixture design, fixture manufacturing, gear cutting, radius cutting, and angle milling.

This course introduces the maintenance of machine tool equipment. Subjects will include coolant properties, oil systems, pneumatic systems, clamping devices, spindle tapers, collet systems, feed systems, and proper initial machine setup.

Introduction to the fundamentals of fluid dynamics. The application of basic fluid mechanics to the analysis of internal and external flow, pumps, turbines, and fans are covered. Applications to incompressible and compressible flows and the effects of friction are explored.

AD 330 History of Renaissance Art 4 cr.

Study of European art from 1400 to 1600 including examples of painting, sculpture, prints, architecture and the applied arts with an emphasis on painting. The art will be analyzed in relation to social contexts and the artists’ intentions and methods.

CLS 416 Diagnostic Genetics, Genomics, and Cytogenetics 4 cr.  (2-0-5)

The course covers the theory, technique, and applications of diagnostic molecular technologies. Topics include nucleic acid extraction, polymerase chain reaction, isothermal amplification techniques, and genomic technologies to include microarray, Sanger sequencing, and Next Generation Sequencing and the role of Bioinformatics in the diagnosis of inherited, acquired, and infectious disease.  The course also includes cytogenetic techniques used to detect genetic disease. The course is designed for all CLS majors and for Biology or Biochemistry majors interested in medical diagnostic applications.
