Intermediate Spanish II

SN 202 Intermediate Spanish II 4 cr.

SN 202 is a continuation of SN 201. Students do considerably more reading and writing than in prior courses. The course expands their cultural and linguistic proficiency.

Notes: Students should pass SN 201 with a "C" or better or three years of high school Spanish prior to this course. Students may take the language placement exam for concerns about proper placement. Contact mll@nmu.edu with questions.

Intermediate Spanish I

SN 201 Intermediate Spanish I 4 cr.

SN 201 reviews all grammar and major topics from SN 101 and 102. This course incorporates more reading, writing and conversation than first-year courses and explores more matters dealing with Hispanic cultures. Students expand their proficiency into areas such as expressing opinions and persuading.

Elementary Spanish II

SN 102 Elementary Spanish II 4 cr.

SN 102 is a continuation of SN 101. Students add to their proficiency in matters such as those related to health, free time, employment, travel and talking about the past cultures of the Hispanic world.

Elementary Spanish I

SN 101 Elementary Spanish I 4 cr.

SN 101 is an introduction to the Spanish language and cultures of the people who speak it. Students learn rudimentary “survival” skills such as social pleasantries, shopping, exchanging money, eating in restaurants, talking about family, school and weather.

Introductory Practicum in Speech-Language Pathology

SL 465 Introductory Practicum in Speech-Language Pathology 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Practicum hours involve provision of evaluation and treatment to clients from the community who have communication or swallowing disorders. Treatment will be conducted at the NMU Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic and will be supervised by a certified instructor. Components of the treatment process will include:  data keeping, designing behavioral objectives, counseling concepts, feedback systems, behavioral management, SOAP notes, writing treatment summaries and implementation of treatment methods. Clinical practicum hours will be arranged by the instructor.
