International Studies Seminar

IP 490 International Studies Seminar 4 cr.

Students reflect on and build on their study abroad experience, including discussion of cultural adaptation. They increase their research skills by researching elements of the country in which they studied abroad, then report in both oral and written formats. They participate in and report on campus and community events with international dimensions, follow current events and issues from around the world, and network with classmates and others.

Maintenance Systems and Technical Communication

IM 215 Maintenance Systems and Technical Communication 3 cr.  (2-0-2)

Students will study various preventive maintenance practices and philosophies in conjunction with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of deficiencies and failures of mechanical power transmission systems. Technical communication and its application to maintenance activities will be covered. Lab activities will reinforce theory discussions.

Alignment, Power Transmission and Conveyors

IM 214 Alignment, Power Transmission and Conveyors 3 cr.  (1-0-4)

Principles of operation and applications of industrial conveyors, power transmission equipment and alignment. Component examples are couplings, sheaves, bushings, bearings, housings, belts, chains, sprockets, seals, variable-speed drives and gear reducers. Includes installation and maintenance.
