Intermediate German I

GR 201 Intermediate German I 4 cr.

A continuation of GR 102. Students do considerably more reading and writing than in prior courses. The course expands their cultural proficiency.

Notes: Students should pass GR 102 with a "C" or better or two years of high school German prior to this course. Students may take the language placement exam for concerns about proper placement. Contact mll@nmu.edu with questions.

Elementary German II

GR 102 Elementary German II 4 cr.

A continuation of GR 101. Students add to their proficiency in matters such as those related to health, free time, employment, travel and talking about the past.

Elementary German I

GR 101 Elementary German I 4 cr. GR 101 is an introduction to the German language and cultures of the people who speak it. Students learn rudimentary “survival” skills such as social pleasantries, shopping, exchanging money, eating in restaurants, and talking about family, school and weather.

Introduction to Gender and Sexuality Studies

GN 100 Introduction to Gender and Sexuality Studies 4 cr.

An interdisciplinary examination of the importance of gender in human experience, with an emphasis on the historical development of feminist and gender theory, as well as the application of such theories in the humanities and social sciences.

Directed Studies in Geography

GC 498 Directed Studies in Geography 1-4 cr.

Research in Water Science

GC 492 Research in Water Science 2 cr.  (0-0-6)

Introduction to environmentally-related research. Projects are pursued in cooperation with a faculty research adviser. The research adviser and research problem must be selected a semester prior to registration. Students must submit a written and oral final report.
