Studio Practice

  • Prerequisites: Junior standing and department head permission. Open only to those students who, through transfer or departmental evaluation, do not have enough credits for graduation from a particular area of studio concentration.

Computer Art: Advanced Studio

AD 434A Computer Art: Advanced Studio 4 cr.

Development of concepts and methods for computer art with a focus on portfolio development. Topics may include advanced animation, experimental animation, scripting, game development, motion capture, digital sculpting, and advanced rendering with emphasis on creative exploration.

Woodworking: Seating and Complex Joinery

AD 424B Woodworking: Seating and Complex Joinery 4 cr.

Continued development of a professional portfolio. Emphasis is placed on the application of ideology and theory while maintaining a close attention to design, process, and concept of chair construction.

Ceramics Seminar: Design Practices

AD 422A Ceramics Seminar: Design Practices 4 cr.

Production of a body of work that supports the student’s personal concern for form supported by ideological and theoretical sources. Individual solutions for construction and finishing are stressed with a focus on current trends and issues in ceramics.

Drawing/Painting: Seminar I

AD 420A Drawing/Painting: Seminar I 4 cr.

Students will plan, research, and execute self-driven projects. The content of these projects will follow consistent and coherent themes determined by the student. Content will be supported by readings, discussions, critiques, and supported exposure to professional opportunities in the field.

Illustration: Advanced Studio I

AD 419A Illustration: Advanced Studio I 4 cr.

Development of conceptual and problem-solving abilities within the framework of varied commercial situations, while encouraging personal artistic voice. Ideation, research, and the professional practice of an illustrator are emphasized.
