Introduction to Information Resources

AIS 101 Introduction to Information Resources 1 cr.  (1-0-0)

The foundation of research at a university is students understanding the resources available at its library and patiently diagnosing information found via the internet. This class prepares students for that with a practical introduction to locating, understanding, and using the materials available through the library (the catalog, electronic databases and indexes, organizing citations) and what you will be finding on the internet. Open to all students; recommended for first-year or returning students.

Gender and Environment

GN 444 Gender and Environment 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course explores gender and the environment from an intersectional perspective. Through case studies ranging from the local to the global scale, we will discuss power, politics, identities, inequalities, social movements and ecological crises. This interdisciplinary course is for environmentalists, feminists, and any student curious about the interconnections between global environmental change and gender relations.

Identity and Belonging in German Literature

GR 412 Identity and Belonging in German Literature 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course explores the topics of identity and belonging in German, Austrian, and Swiss literary texts in their cultural and historical contexts. The selections represent multiple genres and literary movements.  

Der Krimi

GR 411 Der Krimi 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

The aim of this course is to introduce students to examine German crime fiction with students. The course will examine texts from classical German authors, and conclude with contemporary mysteries and graphic novels.

Death in Vienna

GR 319 Death in Vienna 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

The aim of this course is to use crime fiction as a departure point to examine a spectrum of social and cultural topics important in turn-of-the-century Vienna including psychology, criminology, the women’s movement, nationalism, interest in the occult, and others.

Viking Mythology - Pre Christian Germanic Religion

GR 317 Viking Mythology - Pre Christian Germanic Religion 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

The aim of this course is to introduce students to the culture and religious beliefs of the pre-Christian Germanic peoples, using primary sources from a variety of disciplines.

Advanced Acting

TH 435 Advanced Acting 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This is an upper division acting class designed for cohorts in the Acting programs. The class will build upon skills learned in TH 330. Focus in the class is placed on the students developing acting in styles skills. Students will work in the acting styles of Classical drama (Greek), Restoration (Sheridan, Wycherley), and absurdism (Beckett, Pinter).

Stage Combat II

TH 337 Stage Combat II 2 cr.  (2-0-0)

This class is a 300 level performance class designed for students in the Acting programs. The class will focus on perfecting performance skills in stage combat/fighting. Students will be exposed to exercises designed to teach proper combat skills (hand to hand and weapons), with specific emphasis on safety protocols.
