Social Cognition

PSY 322 Social Cognition 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course will survey all aspects of social cognition--from implicit memory formation to social judgement and perception. The course draws from social psychology and cognitive theory to study of how people perceive, interpret, and remember information about themselves, other people, and social groups.

 

Psychology of Adulthood and Aging

PSY 316 Psychology of Adulthood and Aging 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Theory and empirical research concerning developmental processes across the adult life span; psychological, cultural and biological factors which influence development in young adulthood, middle adulthood and old age. Connections to practical and professional experiences will be made throughout the semester.

Adolescent Psychology

PSY 314 Adolescent Psychology 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course examines current theories, methods of study, and research in the study of human development during the adolescent years, and the interrelationships among biological, social, and psychological aspects of development. Connections to practical and professional experiences will be made throughout the semester.

Topics on Brain and Behavior

PSY 251 Topics on Brain and Behavior 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Study of the biological bases of behavior with emphasis on the major areas of study in this field. Topics include the relationship between central nervous system anatomy and physiology to sensation and perception, movement, emotion, motivation, and neuropsychological disorders.

General Psychology

PSY 101 General Psychology 3 cr.  (3-0-0)

This course provides an overview of the scientific study of human behavior. Topics include the application of the scientific method in psychological research, biological psychology, learning, motivation, cognition, personality theory, social psychology, mental disorders, and other relevant topics.

Notes:

Can not earn credit for both PSY 100 and PSY 101. PSY 101 will repeat PSY 100.

Directed Research/Directed Study

PSY 498 Directed Research/Directed Study 1-4 cr.

Directed individual laboratory research of current problems in psychology. This course requires regular meetings with the instructor throughout the semester.

Notes: Formerly PY 498. May be repeated if topic differs. Does not count as a repeat of PSY 497. Formerly PY 498 Directed Research/Directed Study.
