Senior Portfolio

BC 493 Senior Portfolio 1 cr.  (1-0-0)

This course is designed to help students make a successful transition from their undergraduate degree into a position of employment or graduate school. The instructor will work with students to improve projects from previous courses, concurrent courses or internship experiences and will help students organize their best creative and scholarly works into an online portfolio. Students will also learn how to research potential jobs in their field and craft a professional cover letter and resume.

Introduction to Multimedia Production

BC 250 Introduction to Multimedia Production 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

This course introduces students to the theory and practice of video and audio productions. The overarching objective of the class is not only to learn technical aspects of production, but also to understand how to use media technology to achieve intended communication goals. The course also requires students to meet strict deadlines, be responsible, and work individually and in teams.

Percussion Ensemble

MU 120 Percussion Ensemble 0.5 cr.

Repertoire ranges from standard, established pieces for percussion ensemble to newly composed, improvisational, or experimental media-performed literature.

Chamber Ensemble

MU 118 Chamber Ensemble 0.5 cr.

Chamber groups organized by a faculty member according to availability and department objectives. Groups are formed during the first week of the semester. Ensembles generally rehearse two times per week with one session coached by the faculty member.

University Orchestra

MU 116 University Orchestra 0.5 cr.

Ensemble performing a variety of works for either string or full orchestra. Generally two on-campus performances each semester.

Marching Band

MU 114 Marching Band 0.5 cr.

Performances at home football games, homecoming parade, December commencement, and other appearances as scheduled. Mandatory one-week band camp prior to start of fall semester.

Symphonic Band

MU 113 Symphonic Band 0.5 cr.

Ensemble performing a wide range of band repertoire and transcriptions from symphonic literature. Generally two campus concerts during winter semester, spring commencement.

Notes:

May be repeated for credit as often as desired.

Required ensemble for music majors whose performance area is wind/percussion.
