Human Anatomy and Physiology 1

BI 207 Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 4 cr.  (3-0-2)

Integrated study of human structure and function, focusing on the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems. Coursework supplemented by laboratory work on models and basic physiological phenomenon.

Notes:

BI 201 is being replaced with BI 207 Human Anatomy & Physiology I beginning Fall 2016. BI 202 is being replaced with BI 208 Human Anatomy & Physiology II beginning Winter 2017. BI 207 and BI 208 will not count as repeats of BI 201 or BI 202.

This course can be repeated three times.

Culture in Context: (Country Varies)

HS 313X Culture in Context: (Country Varies) 3-4 cr.

Students will learn about the culture of a particular country or countries through a combination of class sessions on the campus of Northern Michigan University and a faculty-led study abroad.

Introduction to Environmental Science

GC 101 Introduction to Environmental Science 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Introduces basic scientific principles and concepts, and presents major components of the natural environment. Also examines the impacts that arise through interactions between nature and society.

Earth’s Climate: Past, Present, and Future

GC 285 Earth’s Climate: Past, Present, and Future 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

Examines the components of the climate system, the processes and feedbacks that influence climate, the techniques used to interpret past climates and predict future climate, and the patterns, variations, and events that have occurred, at different temporal and spatial scales. Also explores predictions for future climate change and some mitigation or adaptation strategies.

Practicing Geography

GC 303 Practicing Geography 4 cr.  (4-0-0)

The course provides an opportunity for EEGS majors to gather up, review, polish and collate their EEGS skills and abilities sets to help them prepare for the successful transition from EEGS major to environmental careers or post-baccalaureate education opportunities.

Form and Analysis

MU 304 Form and Analysis 2 cr.

Examination of the components of musical structural design. Basic elements of homophonic and contrapuntal forms are studied via formal musical analysis. Emphasis is placed on the study of forms of the Middle Ages through the 20th century.
