Prepares students in any discipline at NMU to develop their English language abilities so that they can teach English to students who have not learned it as their first or native language.
Eligibility for Minor: The TESOL minor is appropriate for students in any major: opportunities for teaching English arise internationally within a variety of academic disciplines and educational, corporate, governmental, and service organizations. Students will need to work closely with an advisor and create a plan for courses and their internship. To better understand the language-learning experience of their students and adapt to communities whose first language is not English, students who choose this minor must become proficient in a modern language other than English at the 200 level by the time they complete the minor.
