The early childhood endorsement (ZS) is an additional endorsement added to the elementary and/or special education teaching certificate. The ZS endorsement certifies one to teach in pre-kindergarten through grade three classrooms (ages 0-8), early childhood special education for ages birth through three in home visiting programs, and for ages three to six in early childhood special education classrooms.
Endorsement Requirements
- Valid State of Michigan elementary or K-12 special education teaching certificate.
- Completion of a 300 clock-hour field experience in two of the following: infant/toddler, pre-primary or primary school age children.
- Passing score on the Michigan test for teacher certification (MTTC) in the area of early childhood education (ZS) test No. 106. Registration materials available at http://www.mttc.nesinc.com/MI_testinfo.asp?t=106

Upon completion of all program requirements, students must submit a completed endorsement application on the MOECS website at http://www.michigan.gov/moecs to add this endorsement to their teaching certificate.
