What is your NMU connection?

I am an alumni, Class of 1993.

Your favorite NMU memory or story

I lived in Gant Hall in 1991. Like everyone else it seemed, me and a group of friends were watching the 1991 College
Hockey National Championship on TV. When the Wildcats scored the winning goal in triple overtime, you could hear a
collective roar rumble through the dorm as everyone began celebrating at the exact same time. I can still hear it to this
day.

What is/was your favorite thing to do in Marquette?

Coming from downstate, I was in awe of the natural surroundings of Marquette. We hiked often; up, down and around
Sugarloaf, out to and over Hogsback, out to the Dead River Falls, around Presque Isle. It was an amazing environment.
Photography became my hobby as I used my old 35mm camera to record those trips.

Talk about any significant/memorable sporting events, weather occurrences or other on-campus activities

The 1991 NCAA College Hockey Championship run was amazing. We watched every game on TV. The final
championship game was one for the ages. Our little school with a triple overtime victory against a team with three future
NHL All-Stars. The excitement and school spirit of that time is unforgettable.

Share any dorm/roommate stories you may have

Met some great friends living in the dorms. My core of friends included two from Chicago, one from Milwaukee, and one
from the U.P. For football season, that’s fans of the Lions, Bears, Packers and Vikings. Sundays are never boring.

High School Social Studies Teacher

How did NMU help you get to where you are today?

A received a great educational experience, between my classes at Northern and my student teaching at what was then
Graveraet Middle School. It gave me the foundation that I have built a 27 year teaching career on.
