What direction and opportunities do you think NMU should focus on in the next 25 years?
In the next 25 years, I think it is important for NMU to continue advocating for and implementing sustainability initiatives. Many students at NMU are passionate about these ideals and it is important that this is reflected in the university's decision-making processes. Continuing to create more opportunities for students to get involved through research, projects, and internships would be a great way to empower future leaders in sustainability who can make a difference beyond our campus.
For students, Where do you see yourself in that time?
In 25 years, I see myself working at a university and continuing to contribute to higher education. The opportunities I have been granted at NMU have been so influential and have made me the person I am today. Five years ago, If you were to ask me where I would be in 25 years, I wouldn't have had a clue. NMU has given me so much more than an education- it has given me a sense of purpose, an incredible community, and a foundation to be the leader I have become. My experience at NMU has completely rerouted my path and will continue to shape my future for years to come. Wherever I end up, I will always be proud to call myself a Wildcat.
What do you think universities will be like 125 years from now?
In 125 years from now, I think universities will fundamentally operate similarly to how they do today. However, I think there will be major changes in the way we teach and utilize technology. If utilized responsibly, I believe technology can make education more accessible to students everywhere, from all backgrounds, which could lead to an increase in people pursuing a college education. I think that universities will have a much larger role in society than they do today.
