What is your NMU connection?

I was a student at the end of the 1960s

Your favorite NMU memory or story

For the 1967/68 school year I lived in Gant Hall. There was a large gravel parking lot where I kept my car. I did not use it
during the week, only on some weekends. It was mostly for getting me from my home in New Jersey to NMU and back
again. I remember we had on particularly cold snap and winter storm. It was really cold, down to minus 40 degrees a few
nights. When the snow stopped and I went to the parking lot to dig out my car I couldn't get my car started. I lifted the
hood only to discover that the battery had frozen. I learned a good bit about cold weather and batteries that winter. After it
thawed out, I had to purchase a new battery and put in my car. I have not encountered a winter that cold since then.
