What is your NMU connection?

I graduated with my Master's Degree in Public Administration in 2006. I also worked as an adjunct instructor for NMU from 2020 - 2023.

Who is the most influential person you met during your time at NMU and why were they so influential?

Three NMU employees have been very influential in my life at NMU and beyond. First, Dr. Kulishek was an amazing and
engaging instructor! I really enjoyed being his student and was always excited to see what he was going to do next to help his students learn. I worked for many years with Dr. Joe Lubig at the Marquette Area Public Schools and then worked for him as an adjunct instructor in the Applied Workplace Leadership Program, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Dr. Lubig is always a joy to work with, incredibly knowledgeable, and always puts students and staff first. He made working for NMU a joy, honor, and privilege. Finally, I knew Dave Bonsall through church but also worked with him on occasion for different things at NMU and he served as a reference for me at different times. Dave was an incredibly dedicated and valuable employee who also gave 100% to NMU as he supported the students and staff. These three people are examples of why NMU is so special. They've laid the groundwork for all who will follow in their footsteps and I thank them for everything they gave to me and to NMU students and staff.

What is/was your favorite thing to do in Marquette?

hike, bike, and swim

What is your current or former profession?

I am currently the Superintendent at Pine River Area Schools in LeRoy, MI, just south of Cadillac.

How did NMU help you get to where you are today?

NMU provided me with the confidence and master's degree needed to become Human Resources Director at the
Marquette Area Public Schools. Then gave me the courage and support to apply for a superintendent certification
program so I could become a superintendent.
