What is your NMU connection?
I was a student from the fall of 1965 and graduated in the spring of 1969. I also took graduate courses in the 70’s and
80’s.
Your favorite NMU memory or story
The Wildcat Den was a fun place to hang out, and I liked the quiet of the library with its carousels for studying.
Who is the most influential person you met during your time at NMU and why were they so influential?
Dr. Hendricks, head of the education department. He was always kind, approachable, and cared about the students.
What is/was your favorite thing to do in Marquette?
My friends and I would get Togo’s and eat them along the shore of Lake Superior.
Talk about any significant/memorable sporting events, weather occurrences or other on-campus activities
I was a commuter from Ishpeming. I remember driving in terrible snowstorms to get to campus. Classes were very seldom canceled.
What is your current or former profession?
I was a public school teacher and school librarian for 30 years.
How did NMU help you get to where you are today?
NMU gave me an excellent foundation to start my career in teaching. The English and Education departments were
especially helpful with great professors.
