I was a student there from 75 to 79. I was the second-semester RA and then went on to become a hall Director.
Your favorite NMU memory or story
As a freshman northern won the D3 championship with Steve Mariucci as a quarterback. It was an exciting time.
Who is the most influential person you met during your time at NMU and why were they so influential?
They were two people that were most influential. The first is Karen Reese who worked in the Dean of Students office and the second person was Carl Holm, Director of Resident Life.
Karen wants the Director of summer orientation and I worked for her as a staff assistant for two summers, the best two summers in my life. We had so much fun, welcoming new students and their parents to the university.
Carl hired me as a second-semester freshman to become an RA. He was just a wonderful guy. He loved the students, UP, and always made you feel welcome.
Tell us about the significance of any teams, clubs, or organizations you were part of during your time at NMU
I was involved in resident life in quad one. I don’t remember the name of the group, but Carol Huntoon was our advisor and it had something to do with concerts and events on campus.

My favorite thing to do was hike Presque Isle.

lighted matches at gunpowder on the first floor and coming back from class and Jamrich Hall and seeing the flames out the windows.
What is your current or former profession?
I am a retired teacher. I taught for 43 years at both the high school and college level.
How did NMU help you get to where you are today?
It was a great education. The majority of my classes were in Pierce Hall.
