Skyler Swanson

Public Relations and Financial Management major from Romeo, Michigan

Meet Skyler Swanson, a Public Relations and Financial Management major from Romeo, MI. Skyler plans to graduate in 2030.

I decided to attend NMU because I loved the location and the programs they offered. After visiting and learning more about the school, it felt like a good choice for me and where I wanted to continue my education. I could see myself being comfortable here and enjoying my time as a student.

I decided to double major in Public Relations and Financial Management because I wanted to combine my interest in communication with my interest in business and finance. I felt like the two majors would give me a well-rounded skill set and open up a lot of different career opportunities.

I found my sense of belonging at NMU through meeting new people and making connections with others. Getting to know people in my classes and around campus has helped me feel more comfortable and connected to the NMU community.

If you’re considering Northern Michigan University, I encourage you to take the leap! NMU has so much to offer and the beauty of the Upper Peninsula right outside your door is always a plus! Come experience it for yourself.

The best part of my experience at NMU has been the people I’ve met and the connections I’ve made. Getting to know new people and experiencing college life together has made my time here really meaningful.

Yes, I definitely think it has been worth it. I’m excited to see what the next four years have in store, especially with all the new people I’ll meet, experiences I’ll have, and memories I’ll make along the way.

I’m involved on campus through the cheer team and recently started working as a marketing assistant. Both have been great ways to meet new people and get more connected to campus. Since I’m still new to everything, I’m excited to see where these experiences take me and what I’ll learn along the way.

Being a Wildcat means being part of a community where everyone supports each other and wants to see each other succeed. To me, it’s about making connections, trying new things, and making the most of my time at NMU.
