Marquette Sunrise

Construction Managment major from Howell, MI

Meet Jack McIntire, a Construction Management student from Montgomery, IL. Jack plans to graduate in May of 2025

My sister who had previously attended Northern suggested it after I did not enjoy my previous university. Since coming to NMU, Marquette and the UP have become one of my favorite places in the world.

Since I was a kid I have always enjoyed seeing this come together - like a puzzle. The construction management program has allowed me to learn the ins and outs of building, planning, and sequencing that will apply to the structures I will help build in the future.

For my senior project, a group of five of us are building a pavilion for the Noquemanon Trail Network(NTN). This pavilion is located off Wellhead road and will serve as a community gathering space for hiker, bikers, and dog walkers.

My most rewarding experience on campus have been volunteering for the Woman in Construction(WIC) events. These events invite middle schoolers and high schoolers out to gain a better understanding of what construction management looks like. There are various stations where students can learn different skills - from using a nail gun, to welding, and simulated management situations. These events allow for a better understanding of the construction industry as well as informing woman of the opportunities available to them post grad.
