Meet Kari Betters, an Elementary Education major from Menominee, Michigan. She plans to graduate in 2025.
Why did you decide to come to NMU?
A lot of my family went here and it's still pretty close to home for me.
How did you decide your major/minor?
I have always enjoyed working with children and I wanted to choose a career that I enjoy.
What's an example of a cool, interesting or helpful thing that you have done as a part of your major?
There have been many small things that I have done to work with children but the main thing would be babysitting a lot since I was young.
What are you involved in on- and off-campus and what has been the most rewarding experience?
I am involved in the NMU Hip Hop Dance Crew and the Feminism for All Club here on campus.
What does 'beNorthern' mean to you?
To me, Northern means living the whole college dream, living on campus, making lifelong friends, getting involved, and appreciating what Marquette has to offer.
Further comments about your NMU experience:
I have enjoyed my experience here so much so far and it is only my first year. I am excited to see what the future here holds for me here.
